SBDC staff provides technical assistance through free, confidential counseling in various business areas such as business planning, financing, management, marketing, advertising, and record keeping.

The business consulting services are conducted by professional counselors, who can evaluate an existing business's operations, or a startup company's business plan with fresh, yet experienced eyes. They work closely with clients to develop their business plans and loan proposals. Small Business Development Centers do not charge for their consulting services and can meet with clients at the center or at the business site.

The SBDC also provide small business training programs to meet the individual community's needs. The SBDC holds numerous workshops and seminars on business-related topics throughout the year; the SBDC offers training in an incredible array of topics, ranging from pre-business planning to marketing, bookkeeping, accounting, and management. These seminars are designed for new and existing small business owners and managers to acquire the information that they need to make their business more successful. Workshops are reasonably priced to enable all potential participants to attend.

The SBDC staff works closely with clients to develop their business plans and/or loan proposals. They guide start-up and existing business owners through the business plan process and assist them in compiling the necessary information and documents.
